A Sunday School work, under the direction of Miss Phyllis Johnson, has recently been organized. The first Sunday School meeting convened March 27, 1949, with 40 in attendance. The following Sunday the number had grown to 59. The Sunday School has been divided into six classes: Beginners, Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Young People, and Adult.
Although the work is a Mission of the Lancaster Church, it has supported itself thus far, and can be expected to do so in the future. Total offerings have amounted to $331.48 on April 1, and expenses, including $140.00 for the week of meetings, and about $40.00 for Sunday School material, have been slightly less.
It is apparent to all who are connected with the Mission work in Palmdale, that the Lord is in it, for He has certainly blessed the work, and whenever there has been a need, the Lord has provided. The spiritual strength which this group has shown bears good witness as to the progress which may be expected of it in making an impact for Christ in Palmdale. The Spirit-led ministry of Rev. Johnson has been a real blessing to those in Palmdale who have been hungry for the Word of God. His encouragement, advice, and counsel have been of inestimable value in guiding the growth of the Palmdale work, at a time when our own pastor finds so little time to spare from manifold duties demanded in the shepherding of his own flock.
