Important Dates:

December 2, 1948, First meeting of Palmdale Mission work. Nine people attended.
April 29, 1949, First organizational meeting, Articles of Faith adopted.
May 6, 1949, Church voted to accept a Constitution and to organize as The First Baptist Church of Palmdale with the election of officers.
May 31, 1949, The Church voted unanimously to request admission to the Baptist General Conference of America.
July 28, 1949, The Church purchased a bus for $400.
September 4, 1949, Rev. H. E. Johnson called to serve as pastor.
October 6, 1949, The Church voted to incorporate.
October 28, 1949, The Church voted to purchase one acre of property on the corner of Q-8 and 11th Street East for $3500.
September 1950, Sidney Wyma called to serve as pastor.
January 7, 1951, Groundbreaking service for new sanctuary at corner of Q-8 and 11th Street East.
November 19, 1951, First service and dedication of new sanctuary.
February 28, 1954, Dedication of first Sunday School unit.
December 1958, Dedication of additional Sunday School rooms.
February 1960, Sidney Wyma resigned as pastor.
July 1960, Rev. John W. Shearer called as pastor.
March 1963, Started a building campaign.
October 1963, Gene Luber hired as youth director at $20.00 per week.
1965, Rev. & Mrs. Ken Milhous commissioned as missionaries to Japan.
March 1965, Renewed the building campaign.
October 1, 1967, Ground breaking for the new administration building.
March 24, 1968, Dedication for the new administration building.
April 15, 1970, Rev. Shearer resigns effective June 10, 1970.
August 12, 1970, Rev. Fisk candidates for Pastor position.
July 1974, Rev. Fisk resigns effective August 4, 1974.
January 5, 1975, Rev. Donald Furrow is voted in as new Pastor.
January 1976, Ronald Johnson voted in as Minister of Outreach.
February 1976, Voted to install sign in front of church.
February 1978, Construction begins on new sanctuary and classrooms.
October 1978, Dedication service for new sanctuary and classrooms.
January 1980, Brian Hawley voted in as Youth Director.
June 13, 1982, Rev. Allen Herr voted in as Minister of Outreach.
September 16, 1983, First Mission's Fair (secret bid) and Western Barbeque Dinner.
February 17, 1985, Started having two morning services.
June 1986, Rev. Timothy Wheeler voted in as Minister of Outreach (Effective August 1, 1986).
July 1986, James Achilles voted in as Minister of Music.
October 1986, Randy Huddleston voted in as Youth Minister.
September 25, 1988, Tim Wheeler assumes position of Youth Minister.
April 1996, Farmers Market sponsored by First Baptist Church.
September 1998, Matt Nightingale hired as Praise Team leader.
December 1999, Rev. Furrow resigns as Senior Pastor.
March 5, 2000, Tim Wheeler voted in as Senior Pastor.
May 2000, Jon McIver hired as Minister of Young Adults and Youth.
July 2000, First Fire Works booth fund raiser.
